My Music Miracle

It’s no surprise to anyone that I have been dealing with a lot lately… Most don’t fully understand what, but you have some idea.  There’s no need to fully go into the darkness of the past because this is a celebratory note.  Have you ever loved something so much and then have it taken away from you, only for it  be given back and then stolen, for what felt like forever?  I have.

Let me explain…

I was always a musical child; I remember being very young and taking my mother’s knitting needles and pretending they were a violin!  I could tell you, within mere seconds of hearing a song, who the artist was and what CD it was from.  Music coursed through my veins and made me feel alive.  I was head soprano of every choir and was even asked to join a girl band and tour Canada and the US.  That is the very day my life changed.  I said no, I wanted to get my education before I hopped on a bus or a plane.  It was at that moment doors started closing for me.  A man with a big ego and an even bigger grudge felt personally insulted by my choice to turn his offer down and he made it his life’s mission to break my dreams of singing.  I never fully bounced back from that, but I did my best.  I was almost there when another person came into my life and that is when I lost my voice completely.  It wasn’t that I was too shy or out of practice.  I had completely lost my voice.  It was gone.  I couldn’t hold a single note to save my life.  Two years of intense stressed killed the one true love in my life.  I have been trying to recuperate this year by banishing all controllable stress from my life.  In a sense, I chose to be selfish.  I put myself first and made sure I considered how every decision I made was going to affect me.  Now don’t take that the wrong way and think I became self-absorbed or egoistic.  I simply put myself first in an attempt to regain balance in my life.

Now, the happy part of my story begins…

Tonight I had a very relaxing evening, I simply did things I wanted to do and had a quiet night.  I thought to myself, “it’d be nice to listen to some music while in the shower tonight”, so I brought my laptop in and one of my favourite songs came on… “If I Die Young” by The Band Perry.  I just felt it, I took a deep breath and I sang.  As I realized what was happening my voice grew stronger, more powerful.  I couldn’t believe my ears; I was singing the song and hitting every note.  I burst into tears when I carried that high note without fail.  It’s back, my voice is back.  It’s not perfect, not by a long shot.  I couldn’t win American Idol, but the voice I once had was coming back to me; growing in strength with each note.

This may not seem like much to some people, but if you can imagine having something you love taken from you, then you can imagine how it would feel to get it back.  There are no words to describe the joy in my heart right now, everything seems inadequate.  All I can say is my heart is full and I can’t wait to see where this goes… :)

What You Can Expect!

Hey my loves!
I have two exciting posts for you guys :)  The first one is a review and haul post on the NEW Sephora in Fairview Park Mall.  I picked up a bunch of goodies and can’t wait to show you everything!  I also want to do a separate post on 3-4 items that I picked up that are all natural… I won’t say any more until I upload my post hehehe.

I am SO happy with my purchases and I think you will really enjoy them too!  It’s kind of sad, actually, the staff there already knows me!  IT just opened four days ago and I’ve been there 3 times … YIKES!

Anyway, I just wanted to give you this quick update, so you know what to expect!

Hope you are all happy and healthy!!!!!

Thank you for reading!

Spa Day at Langdon Hall

Sunday June 5th was the most relaxing day I have had in a LONG time!  For my birthday (June 14) my parents gave me a wonderful gift... a relaxing day at the spa!  Langdon Hall is a beautiful country house and spa in Cambridge, Ontario.  Driving up the windy road gave me butterflies as I was filled with SO much anticipation!  I finally caught a glimpse of the beautiful red brick and white pillars and I knew I was going to love the next 8 hours of my day :)

My day started off with a facial and Denise took me to a beautiful little facial room with a conical ceiling.  It was devine!  I then had a manicure with Joanna, the parrafin wax  is a must, it makes your hands so soft!  She painted my fingers a beautiful pink, and I got to keep the bottle!  After my manicure, Stefan gave me a Swedish massage and used heated Thai Stems on my back.  These stems were filled with herbs and the oils are released onto your skin and the heat aids in muscle relaxation.  After my massage, I was brought to the patio where I sat beside a lily pond and enjoyed my lunch.  I had a BBQ Back Bacon & Brioche sandwich.  It was alright, the bacon was a little burned, but it was still good.  Dessert was by far the BEST part of the meal, maybe even the whole day!  I ordered a milk chocolate souffle and it was to die for.  I bake a lot and taste test nearly everything I bake.  I almost always order dessert when I go out to eat so I have consumed my fair share of desserts in my life time and this was the best dessert I have EVER HAD!  EVER HAD! (yes I meant to type that twice!)  It was sinful, I felt as though I had something to confess and ask forgiveness for!  I never thought food could offer so much pleasure!

After my lunch I sat by the pond and read my book for a while.  Then I had my last appointment of the day, my pedicure.  It was filled with entertainment from a few ladies who had too much to drink!  The parrafin wax is, again, a must have!  Ashley painted my toes a beautiful lavender colour and I was able to keep that polish too!

I met so many wonderful people, staff and guests, and I will never forget them!  I can't wait to go back for another day of bliss *and chocolate souffle* :)

Overall, it was the best birthday gift I have ever had!!!  It was so relaxing and I really appreciate the day :)
