Sephora Purchase: New Perfume!

Hey everyone!

I hope you are all doing well!  I took a break from studying and writing papers and exams today to do a little shopping.  I bought a few things for a friend for Christmas and then I decided to use my VIB $20 Gift Card on myself :) So I bought a new perfume!  I decided on Philosophy's "Unconditional Love", it is AMAZING!  The website doesn't really have a good breakdown of what the perfume smells like, but this is what they say about it:

"unconditional love spray fragrance is a soulful, sweetly warm scent to leave you feeling surrounded by love and happiness.

features & benefits

  • a soulful, sweetly warm scent
  • feel surrounded by love and happiness
  • passionate and enduring"

I really love it and can't wait to wear it tomorrow!

Now, down to business...  I feel like if there was a Perfume Rehab I would be their number one, returning customer.  Are any of you perfume-a-holics like me?

What is your FAVE scent?  Do you have a FAVE perfume?  What's one perfume you WISH you could have?  Leave your answers as a comment below! xoxox

Love ya!

Thank you for reading!

Kayla

REVIEW: Babyliss Pro Tourmaline Ceramic Curling Iron

Hey everyone!

I was sent the Babyliss Pro Tourmaline Ceramic Curling Iron from the wonderful people at Flat Iron Experts for my review and I've got some great things to say about it!

Before I begin my review I want to remind everyone that in no way, shape or form will my review be swayed or changed or influenced just because I did not purchase these items. I know that I want honest reviews from the blogs I read and videos I watch, I would never want to be lied to. So I promise you I will never give false reviews! Okay with that out of the way... Here is my review!

I have been using the Babyliss Pro Tourmaline Ceramic Curling Iron (1.5 inch) for about 2 months now, I wanted to really review it, and I have to say… it is AMAZING!  My hair has never been very good for curling; its stick straight and curls never hold.  But this curling iron has really changed everything!  It doesn’t pull, snag, or catch my hair at all.  The cord is a swivel cord so it is really easy to work with and doesn’t get all tangled up.  The spring on the clasp is awesome; it really holds your hair in place!  One of the coolest things about this curling iron is that the temperature control pops in and out so you can’t accidentally turn the temperature up/down while you’re doing your hair.  I really love this curling iron and it has made doing my hair an actual PLEASURE instead of work!  My hair always feels soft and healthy after I’ve curled it, I love it!
Click on the Picture to go to the Website!

After I curled my hair!

Here are some specs from the website:
The Babyliss Pro Tourmaline Ceramic Curling Iron is rated #2 on our Best Curling Iron list for one reason alone and it is the price. If price wasn't a factor, this curling iron will for sure be the #1 choice. The Babyliss Tourmaline Ceramic Curling iron emits negative ions and far-infrared heat that brings a number of additional benefits to your hair:

1. Eliminates static electricity
2. Neutralize odors
3. Preserve more moisture within the hair shaft
4. Causes less damage to the hair cuticle

From our expertise and customer reviews, most people are saying that tourmaline curling irons gives longer lasting curls compared to the non-Tourmaline or Ceramic Hot Tools curling irons and other drugstore brands. The Babyliss curling iron comes with 40 adjustable heats setting up to a scorching 428 F perfect for all hair types. Two other great benefits of choosing this curling iron is the 2 year warranty and the fact that this curling iron is Dual Voltage, meaning you can use this curling iron anywhere around the world while you travel. If you want a curling iron that is up to date and wouldn't mind paying a bit extra. This would be your choice. Flat Iron Experts recommend the Babyliss Tourmaline Curling Irons with 100% Confidence.
Available in:
Spring Handle: 0.75", 1", 1.25", 1.5"

  • Tourmaline/Ceramic barrels retain heat more efficiently, distribute it more evenly and eliminate damaging hot spots.

Don't Worry, Be Happy: How to deal with the stress of school and/or life!

Hey my loves!

I thought I would do a post about stress and back to school.  This time of year tends to be really stressful for young teens, teens, and young adults.  Many of us are going back to school or starting out at a new school/college/university for the very first time.  It can be really scary!  I remember when I started university, I was terrified.  I thought for sure I was going to be crushed by the workload; it was so overwhelming and I really had to try hard to keep my head above water.  I didn’t have anyone I could turn to and say “hey how do I cope with all of these new changes in my life?!”… So I am hoping I can be that person for you!

A few things to remember:

1)      Change is good!  It might not feel like it but trying new things, going new places, and the butterflies in your tummy that go along with it are all GOOD things!  You will become so much wiser, stronger, and self-assured.  YOU CAN DO THIS!

2)      You are NEVER alone.  You might think you are the only person who is scared or stressed or unsure of what they are doing in life but I promise you, everyone else is just as unsure… They are feeling the same way as you.  There is a funny quote, but I can’t remember who said it… “Everyone hates their 20’s, that’s why they all drink so much…”  It is so true!  Many people are unsure of who they are at this age (and even older!) life expects a lot from you and sometimes it is hard to know where you are going.  But don’t fret; enjoy each and every day and don’t stress about tomorrow.  You are on this path right now and who knows, next week it might change and all of the sudden you realize that cooking is really your passion, not physics… and that is OKAY!  Or you might go through all of high school thinking you are going to go to university to become a doctor, and then at the end of grade 12 you realize you really want to be a mechanic… GO FOR IT!  What I am trying to say here is follow your passions and you will be happy.  Money will come; don’t get too focused on that part…

3)      Making new friends is HARD!  People get into little cliques and act like they don’t want any “New Friends”, you know what? THEIR LOSS!  You are a wonderful person with so much to give; don’t waste your time trying to fit in to some group that acts like they are too cool to be nice to you or accept you as a friend.  Those people rarely turn out to be nice people.  And, if you ARE one of those people, give it up… you aren’t that cool :P

4)      When you are trying to make new friends, remember what I said about passions… If you love cooking, painting, karate, reading, snowboarding, knitting or WHATEVER!  Join a club or a group or take a cooking class (even if you are the most amazing cook, you can always learn something new, or meet someone cool!).  Like-minded people are bound to make great friends!

5)      Dealing with stress is SUPER CHALLENGING! Sometimes you can feel like breathing is impossible, or even getting through the night is going to be too hard… I promise you, tomorrow is a new day and it is yours :)  An AWESOME way to get rid of stress is exercise!  Go to the gym or go for a walk with your dog, parent, or friend… or hey, even go by yourself and just let your mind relax!  Another SUPER important thing is SLEEP!  Your body needs sleep in order to function.  If you deprive yourself of sleep you will be a mess and you will only be hurting yourself in the long run.  Not to mention that lack of sleep results in some serious side effects!  Just Google it, or check out this website: http://www.buzzle.com/articles/lack-of-sleep-side-effects.html

6)      Homework… you need to PLAN PLAN PLAN!  Get an organizer or a calendar and write out when every single assignment is due, quiz is happening, exam is scheduled etc.  This way you can plan out your week/month/semester etc.  There is nothing worse than realizing you have 3 papers due within a week and you COULD have started them all earlier if you had only planned ahead.  So don’t make that mistake; plan ahead now! :)  Also, make sure you leave yourself enough time to do your readings and assignments properly.  There will always be time to go hang out with friends, go to the bar (if you are old enough), party, etc.  You have the rest of your life to have loads of fun; be responsible and “do what you gotta do so you can do what you wanna do” (Denzel Washington).

7)      On the other hand, make sure you HAVE FUN!  Don’t get all bogged down worrying about stuff; be a kid/be a teen/be a young adult!  Live your life :)

Most importantly, never lose sight of who you are… Don’t change for anyone and always listen to that little voice deep down inside; it won’t let you down.  Stress is only temporary and I hope you picked up a few tips on how to cope!

Love,
K

Giveaways and my blogging style

hey my loves!

don't be discouraged if you werent one of the watch winners... (I announced them on Twitter).  I love doing giveaways and there will be many more in our future :)

The more followers I get, the cooler the giveaways I can do.  So tell all of your friends to check out my blog and if they like it, they can subscribe!!

Most of you know that the bigger the blog (more followers) the more attention they receive from beauty companies out there... It's a win win situation for them if they sponsor a giveaway on a big blog... LOADS of publicity for them and SUPER cool prizes for us!

I always said that I do this blog for YOU and I will stay true to that.  I don't want to be one of those bloggers that gets ripped to shreds on those beauty guru gossip websites.  I didn't create this blog to "get famous" or get loads of stuff for free and rub it in anyone's face.

I have and will accept gifts from beauty companies out there; it's how I can try out so many different things!  I will NEVER be paid off (to say I like something even if I dont) and I will never say I like something JUST because it was sent to me for free... you NEVER have to worry about that my loves!

Anywhoooooooo just felt like saying some of those things and reminding you that your chances of winning a giveaway here on my blog are pretty good since I love doing them! :)

Kelly Cutrone

Hey my loves!

I just bought Kelly Cutrone's 2 books...  So far I love the first one I'm reading!  Her writing style is much like her personality... sharp and funny.

I can't do a full review on them, as I only started reading the first one, but I just thought I would let you know what I am reading right now!

Have you read either of her books?

Sally Hansen Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips

Hey my loves!
I am always searching for new and cool products and this one is prettttttttttttttty cool!  The Sally Hansen Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips are super easy and fun.  All you have to do is match up the polish strip with the nail that fits the best (16 strips, 2 strips of each size) and then peel and stick!  It is ACTUALLY that easy.  I cannot paint my nails to save my life.  More ends up on my elbows than my nails.  So when I discovered this I thought it would be a really cool way to have funky nails (that are supposed to last up to 10 days... mine lasted more like 7, but I'm hard on my nails)!

They have such cool designs, the other day I used the Cheetah polish strips, I had about 10 people stop me in the mall to ask where I'd had my nails done.  They were so shocked to hear I did it myself with Sally Hansen Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips!

Have you tried these before?  What are your thoughts?

Covergirl LastBlast Volume

Hey my loves!
Well, TiffanyD wasn't kidding when she said this is her FAVE mascara... I decided to pick it up at my local Shoppers Drug Mart and I see why she loves it.

This mascara rocks!  The formula is fantastic, it coats every lash and DOES NOT FLAKE!  Mascara and I have a love hate relationship and I am really surprised that I havent found one thing to dislike about this one yet.  It does NOT burn, flake, clump, goop, dry out, weigh down my lashes, or anything!

The brush on the wand is a short plastic brush, so if you don't like those kinds of brushes, you probably won't like this mascara, but I still urge you to give it a shot!

I can even apply this mascara with UNCURLED lashes and my lashes look full and beautiful... I'm sold :)

What is YOUR FAVE mascara?

Lovestruck by Vera Wang

Hey my loves!

I purchased a new fragrance at Shoppers Drug Mart last week and I am LOVING it!  It is the new fragrance by Vera Wang... LOVESTRUCK!

Here is some info on it from the VW Blog...

Lovestruck is about the emotion and rush you feel when you are falling in love and going for it… those heart-pounding moments of spontaneity!” –Vera Wang
"Lovestruck.
The fragrance is a sparkling addictive floral you are sure to fall in love with. There’s an instant attraction to the mouthwatering pink guava and mandarin, followed by a delicate mix of tuberose and lotus blossom. Behind it all, precious woods and sheer musk envelope a passionate elegance.

Inspiration.
Vera Wang Lovestruck was inspired by a modern day twist on Romeo & Juliet. It captures the feeling of a woman who is struck by love, captivated by passion. It represents an irresistible romance. She is madly in love and she’s going for it."

I am a sucker for love and R&J is one of my favourite plays... so this seemed like the perfect perfume for me as soon as I heard about it!  I really love it; the bottle is BEAUTIFUL and the scent is devine.  It isn't too strong but it DOES last quite a while.  I wouldn't, however, categorize it as "long lasting".  I might have to do a little test to see how long the scent lingers throughout the day... after a few minutes I become desensitized to it and can't tell... So Im not that good of a judge!

Have you tried this perfume out yet?  What is your go to perfume for fall?

Tarte: Lipsurgence Lip Tint

Hey my loves!

So I was at Sephora the other day and I picked up a Tarte lip product.  It looked really cool and when I sampled it at the store it looked great on!  I brought it home and used it today and the entire tip broke off!  The lip product looks like an oversized crayon... that might help you visualize where the breakage occured.  I am so mad!  I'm going to have to scrape off that part and put it into a container that I can dip into with a lip brush.  That is SO not what I was expecting :(  It's not cheap either, so I am a little disappointed.

I haven't had the best luck with Tarte and I really wish it wasn't so.  I am going to cross my fingers that the lip product doesnt keep breaking every time I use it.. cross your fingers for me! :)

Thank you!

Hey my loves!

I just wanted to say THANK YOU to everyone who entered my giveaway :) There were two lucky winners and they have both been notified.  I love doing things like this for you guys, it feels nice to give back to you when I can!

Ultimately, I do this blog for YOU.  I tell you about cool things I have tried, or things I think you should just skip past in the store... So thank you for following this blog and giving me the opportunity to share one of my passions with you :)

Berry-licious Smoothie

You might be wondering why I am writing about a smoothie on a beauty blog... but there IS a method to my madness :)

Do you know how amazing blueberries are for you???

1) They have the HIGHEST antioxidant capacity of all fresh fruits!
2) They neutralize free radicals in the body.  In turn, this helps you look and feel younger! (not to mention prevent diseases)
3) Last, but certainly not least, blueberries can keep your brain and eyes sharp!

Smoothies are great for the morning rush and they are so healthy (if you make them right ;) hehehe)

Recipe:

1 cup frozen blueberry/raspberry/blackberry (frozen fruit mixture)
2 tbsp plain greek yogurt
1 swirl of honey (optional)
1 mint leaf (optional)
1/2 cup fresh squeezed orange juice (or you can use bottled OJ... jsut stay away from anything that you have to mix... try to stay fresh!)

Note:

If your smoothie is a little on the thick side, add some water (or more OJ) to the blender and mix again.

Enjoy!  It's DELICIOUS! :)

The importance of Water

Hey my loves,

I don't know if you know this, but water is SO important for our bodies and it makes a huge difference with your skin.  I have been working like crazy nad will be heading back to school in a few weeks so I have been stressed OUT!  With that being said, I stopped drinking as much water and my skin has really paid the price.  I have been breaking out and my skin just looks DULL :(  Now I know what you are thinking... She is probably breaking out because she is stressed... I never get breakouts!  Stress or no stress!  The only time I get breakouts is when I am dehydrated.

I know some of you probably don't like drinking water because it is tasteless (or maybe  has a bad taste depending on where you live) but there's a solution for that!  Crystal Light has flavoured water crystals and some of them are pretty awesome!  No more excuses ;)

I own a Nalgene and I absolutely love it... I have 3-4 actually.  They are dishwasher safe and much better for the environment than water bottles!  I'm not saying you have to go out and buy one, but I know that if I have it with me, I tend to use it A LOT more!

Bottom line, is I want to promote a healthy consumption of water.  It is SO important for our skin, hair, eyes, brain and everything in between!!!  Not to mention it flushes out toxins from our body.

Tkae the challenge with me... Commit to drinking 8 glasses of water a day!  I dare you :)

Denver Update

Hey everyone!

So, I have been in Denver since Wednesday and I will be flying home on Sunday.  I thought I would give you a little update on what I have been doing so far!  Wednesday when I got here I just had a relaxing afternoon and then on Thursday I did some shopping!  I went to Forever 21, Victoria's Secret, and a bunch of other shops!  Denver has this cool place called the "16th Street Mall" and no cars are allowed up or down this street, only a free bus that loops around taking you from shop to shop.  There are restaurants, cafes, and lots of other little stores.  Then there is the Denver Pavilion with stores like Bath & Body Works, Victoria's Secret, Forever 21, Pacsun, Hot Topic etc.

I bought some really cute necklaces and a headband at F21 and a cute bag and body spray at Victoria's Secret.  I will do a post on those things when I get home.

I've also been eating out SO much, I dont even want to eat dinner tonight lol.  Food has no appeal to me right now!  I will do a post about some of the dishes I've had.  Let me just say, if you are looking for a good restaurant in Denver, you have to try the Capitol Grille... YUM!

The hotel has a salt water lap pool, I've been using it every morning, it's such a nice way to start the day!  They also have a cool gym that overlooks the city!

Today, I went to the Downtown Aquarium, it was cool... but I wouldn't send people there if someone asked for a fun thing to do.  It was a tad bit disappointing.

I'm not sure what the plan is for tomorrow, but Sunday my dad and I are going to hang out before we have to catch our flight home... I think we fly out at 5pm Denver time.

Well, there's my little update!  Hope you are all doing well and you are happy and healthy!

Phosphor Watches

Hey my loves!

I recently purchased a Phosphor Appear Black Crystal watch and I LOVE IT!  I love a little bling and I got a lot with this watch!  Here is some info about the watch :)

Driven by Micro-Magnetic Mechanical Digital (M3D) technology, the Phosphor Appear watch utilizes miniature-sized rotors adorned with Swarovski™ crystals that revolve to reveal numerical or chronological information. With each minute, an electrical pulse generates an electromagnetic field that changes the position of the crystals on the face of the watch, to elegantly display the passing time, while producing a distinctive sound unique to the Phosphor Appear digital watch line.

The basic "time" mode features a 12-hour display, with the hours positioned above the minutes on the face. The watch face also offers a "seconds" mode and "off" mode, showing an entire face of crystals with no time display.

Features:

·  Case diameter: 43.8mm

·  Overall case thickness: 14.5mm

·  Water resistance: 5 ATM - 50m

·  Display: 12 hour only

·  Functions: Time, Seconds, and Off

Let me tell you, the sound the watch makes is SO COOL!  It is quiet, so you won’t be bothered by it (nor will anyone around you) but if it is quiet and someone is sitting next to you they will hear this cool sound and then the conversation will begin!  I’ve had people ask if they can take a video of my watch changing time so they can show their friends!

I forgot to put it on one morning and I actually drove home to get it because I couldn’t fathom the idea of going a day without it!

I must mention the customer service… It is AMAZING!  I have very high standards when it comes to customer service and Phosphor has blown my mind!  They care SO much about their customers and they just want to make you happy.  I am thoroughly impressed and I am proud to be doing a post about this company!  I promise you, you won’t be disappointed with Phosphor Watches!

Did I mention that a ton of celebrities are rockin' these watches?!  Ashley Benson from Pretty Little Liars, Faith Evans, Iyaz, Chelsie Hightower from Dancing with the Stars, and more!

If you would like one of these beauties make sure you enter my giveaway!  If you can’t wait or want to buy one for a friend or loved one, or you want a second (or third or fourth…) for yourself, use my coupon code for $30 off!

VitaminWater

Hey everyone!

I wanted to talk to you about Vitamin Water. I have been obsessed since it first touched my lips. I definitely have my favourite flavours but there isn't one that I won't buy. I can happily say that I have created a few Vitamin Water addicts since I have discovered the product!  Vitamin Water is so cool because it is loaded with different vitamins and minerals and each drink caters to different things; ie) Energy, Mega C, Focus, etc.

What does glacéau mean?glacéau vitaminwater – the original from new york – is a great-tasting, active lifestyle hydrating beverage packed with vitamins and minerals to help get you through your day. While most beverages are just about flavour and refreshment, glacéau vitaminwater is about much more...simply put, it works!

I was sent three different flavours of the Vitamin Water10: recoup - peach mandarin, go-go - mixed berry, and grape-raspberry. I was excited because I had never tried these 3 flavours before! I loved the grape-raspberry, it’s a new fave! The only one I didn’t like was the mixed berry. I found I was thirstier after drinking it, but that is the only one I have encountered so far that has had that effect.

I recently discovered Spark – blueberry-grape and I think I have a NEW FAVE! It is so good! I was it on sale and bought 10!

Not only is this stuff jam packed with vitamins, it actually tastes GOOD! Everyone needs to stay hydrated, so why not enjoy every sip while you do it!

Thanks so much for reading!

Sephora Tinted Self-Tanning Body Mist

This is a spray tan (in a hairspray type of bottle) that lasts for the day, then washes off.  It is alright, but not my fave.  It rubs off on everything and has quite a strong perfume-y smell.  I am still searching for the perfect fake tanner as my St. Tropez Bronzing Mousse is hard to find and is quite expensive!

Verdict: Save your money and keep looking for something better!

Rimmel DAY 2 NIGHT Mascara

Love love loveeeeeeeee this mascara!  It is amazing!  No clumps, no flakes, no burning eyes, no smudging, no melting on hot days, just perfection!  The first wand is designed for length, so it picks up less product.  The second wand is for volumizing so it picks up more product!  The first wand is fabulous for wearing during the day, it separates and lengthens my lashes beautifully.  The second wand really dramatizes your lashes; perfect for night!

Verdict: Go buy it NOW! :)

Thank you for reading!

Tarte: Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara

I was SO excited about this mascara!  Natural mascara?  Yes please!  It defines, lengthens, and volumizes my lashes beautifully.  The only thing?  It makes my eyes burn by the end of the day.  If I wear a different mascara the next day; no burn.  Switch back to Tarte; burn.  Try it a few days later; no burn!  What the heck!  Im a little confused by it, so I am giving my eyes a break from Tarte and will check it out again shortly!

Verdict: The jury is still out on this one!

Thank you for reading!

Boscia Nose Strips

An expensive version of the Biore nose strips.  They are black, so it is harder to see what comes off onto the strip, so it’s easy to be deceived.  The only thing I liked about these more than the Biore ones is they didn’t feel like they were “papier-mâché-d” onto my nose.  They were far less “gluey”.

Verdict: Pass!  They are expensive and they do not seem to work any better than any other nose strip I have tried.

Thank you for reading!

I am a little late jumping on this bandwagon, but I figured it is better late than never!  I see the appeal to these pencils, but I’m really not that impressed with them.  I cannot use them as a base without using a primer underneath them.  So it kind of just adds another step to my routine.  They are, however, cheap and useful if you don’t mind aiding a few steps into your daily routine.  Just don’t expect them to be a suitable base for your eyeshadow if you tend to crease!  The colour payoff is quite nice, I am pleased with that and the colour variety is quite large!

Verdict: I wouldn’t die without them, but since I do have them, I will use them :)

The colours I have: Lavender, Pots & Pans, Yogurt, Dark Brown, French Fries, Milk, Iced Mocha, and Slate

Lavanilla Laboratories

The Healthy Deodorant & Matching Perfume

My favourite scent is vanilla & coconut so when I saw this deodorant and perfume (Makeup By TiffanyD talked about this in one of her videos) I knew I had to have it!  The perfume is amazing, it smells SO good!  The deodorant is the special part, however.  It is all natural!  This is made WITHOUT: petrochemicals, phthalates, propylene glycol, mineral oils, silicone, synthetic dyes, sulphated or parabens.  Now, I must say, it does not work as well as the standard or more streamlined deodorants, but I was expecting that since it is all natural.  All I have to do is carry it around with me and that is no bother to me as I know I am doing something good for my body.  We all have to wear deodorant and its something we put on every day… So why not put in the extra effort and make sure it is something good for our body?

For those who dislike vanilla & coconut, not to worry, they have about 5 other scents!

Verdict:  Slightly annoying that I have to take it with me, but well worth it!  Perfume is delectable!  Go buy it now!

Please don't think I am ignoring your comments or not reading your blogs.  I just cannot comment :(

Hopefully they fix this bug soon!

Oscar Blandi Dry Shampoo

ICK! ICK! ICKKKKKKKKKK!  I was so excited to try this stuff as JuicyStar07 raves about it and says it is her go-to dry shampoo.  Well, it appears that Blair and I have very different taste in hair products…  I used this stuff yesterday and it STUNK!  It was like a rotten orange… or some other awful citrus scent that had gone bad.  I will DEFINITELY be returning this.

I am still on the lookout for the perfect dry shampoo for darker hair colours.  When I find it, I will let you know!!!

Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray

I have stick straight hair.  Not even a hint of a curl.  So when I heard about B&B Surf Spray, I was doubtful.  The associate at Sephora promised me it would give me that beach-y look and I took her word for it!  I purchased the Surf Spray, still unconvinced but willing to try, and I went home ready to test out a new product.  The instructions suggest using it on damp dry hair or fully dried hair.  I chose the former.  They then suggest you stand outside and let the wind do the final step or use a diffuser.  I don’t have a diffuser so I went for a car ride with all of the windows down :)

Verdict: It smells great, gave my hair beach-y subtle waves (more volume too), and you don’t need a lot of product to achieve this look.

Alternative: You can always make your own!  Take a spritzer bottle, small amount of coconut conditioner, water, and sea salt.  Shake it up and spritz!

Pictures to come (my camera is in LA at the moment lol!)
